| In the world of video games, the player presses Start (or Esc) to pause the game momentarily until (s)he is ready to resume the game and continue onward.
I have currently put my life on pause as I await the opportune moment to hit Start and pwn whatever challenges lie ahead. | | |

reCREATION is an inevitable process
that permeates our existence: light to darkness, conflict to
reconciliation, birth to death. It is a rudimentary dynamic within our
lives; ever changing, ever growing. We reCREATE
events of the past on stage to remember and honor them. We reCREATE images in our minds; images of
the present, and images of how we would ideally desire our world to
be. We send a message through PCN in hopes of changing the future; in
hopes of reCREATING our destiny.
PCN is a community effort to express identity and evolution, a
communication of stories and perspectives aimed to empower and educate
the community, and a means to examine what it means to be Pilipino. PCN
embraces the strengths and weaknesses of people and celebrates them
through visual performing arts, dancing, acting, choreographed
movements, and musical display.
PCN is the longest running culture show on the UC Berkeley campus. This year marks the
30th anniversary for Berkeley’s PCN, making it the second longest
running PCN (after SFSU).

| So I got two phone calls earlier today--the first from Chris asking me to drop off some Blue Books and Scantrons that he left under his bed for his PASOC class, and the other from Erin asking for an extra umbrella to borrow since it was beginning to sprinkle. Stepping out my doorway, I made one keen but shocking observation: my doormat was missing! Who the hell steals a doormat? Let's ignore the fact that it cost a mere 99 cents from IKEA; it was the principle that mattered. You can imagine how outraged I was...well, at least on the inside.
Upon descending the stairwell, I discover MY doormat rolled up, propping open the door to the parking garage. I didn't even bother to get it back. I was mad. As I made my way towards campus, I kept playing in my mind the confrontation that I would never have with the mysterious stealer of doormats. Then it hit me--I brought an umbrella for Erin, but I forgot to grab one for myself. Idiot! How could things get any worse? But it was at that moment that she caught my attention.
Across the street, I noticed what I could only assume to be a homeless woman, yelling at the top of her lungs at people who weren't even there. Her shopping cart had fallen on its side, spilling what few belongings she had upon on the wet cement below. Comparing her situation with mine instantly put my "problems" into perspective.
So the next time you go off thinking your life sucks just because you've got three finals in a row next Tuesday or because your GPA isn't quite the 4.28 you had in high school, go try telling that to the 800 or so people who call the streets of Berkeley home.
